Built around the 1860´s, and used as a hunting lodge, Firwood is now a 5 Diamond Gold Award Bed and Breakfast and sits in an enviable elevated position overlooking the surrounding countryside. Retaining much of it´s original charm and features, we major on peace, tranquility, a touch of style and luxury with home comforts. An ideal base for touring Northumberland, Durham and into the Scottish Borders, walking the Cheviot Hills, exploring the Northumberland coastline, visiting the many gardens and castles (Alnwick Water Gardens a must!) or just taking time out to relax in our gardens and contemplate the views and escape from the rush of life.
Facilities: Large residents lounge with original open fire and big bay window, perfect for sitting in and watching the wildlife. All our bedrooms are on the ground floor, spacious and retaining original fireplaces. Some are bath with shower over en-suite, one shower en-suite.Double rooms have king size beds and all have televisions,beverage trays, hairdryer and radio alarms.
Breakfast is served in our spacious dining room, again, with big bay window and original open fire. We major on the breakfast, with a choice of full cooked or healthy and vegetarian option available.
If you are out walking we can provide you with a packed lunch at a reasonable cost and if you do happen to get wet, then let us dry you off for the next day, boots, rucksacks, the lot. A limited laundry service is available for a small charge. We also have secure storage facilities for bikes and off road parking for cars.
We are totally non smoking in the house.
