A highly original country house for people who want something out
of the ordinary.

Established as country house accommodation since 1991, we pride ourselves with having created a little piece of Welsh heaven that would be difficult to emulate by any other hotel in Snowdonia.

Our Snowdonian luxury hideaway offers unique, quiet and intimate accommodation and a gourmet sanctuary for the discerning traveller, who seeks the ultimate of holidays in Wales.

Independent and family owned the consistent hand of the owners can be felt at all times; while serving breakfast; welcoming guests and being a presence in the restaurant in the evening, we offer a special kind of North Wales holiday experience suitable for those wishing to stay in a small boutique country house in Snowdonia.

Unlike many other country houses in Wales, the traditional 17th century Welsh stone exterior belies, what lies within, for once inside the entranceway opens into a stunning sequence of intimate, immaculately designed rooms, where a fusion of traditional and contemporary style is allied with simplicity, and a total ban on smoking prevails.

Tan-y-Foel means ´house under the hillside´ and perfectly describes the location of our award winning holiday accommodation in Wales, perched high above sea level, nestling amongst tree covered hills, with spectacular sweeping views of the Conwy Valley and Snowdonia National Park, we provide the idyllic setting for that perfect Snowdonia weekend break.

Our holiday accommodation in Wales is honoured with many highly regarded awards from The Good Hotel Guide, The Good Food Guide, The Which? Guide to Good Hotels, The AA Restaurant Guide and The AA Hotel Guide, for providing the highest levels of accommodation, culinary excellence, service and comfort.

For those individuals perusing for bed and breakfast in Snowdonia the North Wales Tourist Board and the Welsh Tourist Board, commend Tan-y-Foel
as the only Five Star Country House accommodation Betws-y-Coed.

Whilst walking in North Wales you can explore the breathtaking scenery as well
as enjoy great days out visiting the CADW castles of Snowdonia at Conwy, Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Harlech. The National Trust places to visit include Chirk Castle, Erddig, Bodnant Gardens, Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd. Nature lovers can enjoy horse riding at nearby Ty Coch riding and trekking centre or bird-watching at Conwy RSPB bird reserve. For arts and entertainment choose from the North Wales Theatre or Oriel Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno or the Royal Cambrian Gallery, Conwy. For urbanites, Chester is only one hour away and another thirty minutes from there you will find yourself in the shopping mecca of Manchester.

Facilities: Six extremely well-appointed luxurious no smoking guest bedrooms - some with four poster king beds - are all decorated with imaginative flair

Bedrooms have been individually designed with a very different colour scheme chosen in each room. In-house design over fifteen years of trading has resulted in the most recent award of Conde Nast Johansens 2006: Most Excellent Country House Award. We have also previously won The Which? Guide to Good Hotels 2004: Individual Flair Award and The Which? Guide to Good Hotels 1998: Imaginative Bedroom Award.

Soft, calming and restful honey and buttermilk colours complimented by oak and leather furnishings lead the way to the contrasting lively, uplifting and vibrant shades of yellow and apple green. For the more adventurous and seductive individuals perhaps admiral red will evoke the romance of hearts and roses.

Crisp linens dress sumptuous superking or twin bed accommodation. All bedrooms are furnished with tea and coffee making facilites, direct dial telephones and colour televisions. Bathrobes, hairdryers and Molton Brown toiletries provide thoughtful touches in the delightful private bathrooms. All ensuite bathrooms have both bath and shower.

A slightly larger privately accessed room that adjoins the main house provides ideal accommodation for a small family wishing to share with one child over seven years of age.

One ground floor room, also adjoins the main house perfectly suited for those who seek accommodation without stairs.

Four guest bedrooms afford spectacular views of the lawn and beautiful mature gardens, that blossom with rhodedendrum, azalea and magnolia throughout Spring and Summer. Equally enjoyed throughout Autumn and Winter with vistas of the glistening snow-capped peaks of Snowdonia and the surrounding Conwy Valley.
