Award Winning Establishment Three hundred years old, and family owned for the last five years, the Durham Ox has enjoyed several recent accolades; named as one of six top country pubs with good food and accommodation by the Times and awarded the title of glorious gastropub in the latest edition of The Which? Guide to Good Hotels.
LocationWe are situated in the historic village of Crayke, with breathtaking views over the vale of York on three sides, and a charming view up the hill to the medieval Church. Crayke is less than 20 minutes from York City Centre, and in the heart of Herriot Country. We are well placed for visits to Castle Howard, the walled gardens at Scampston, Byland Abbey and other stately homes and historic sites.
The Perfect GetawayAn award winning restaurant, a cosy oak panelled bar with roaring fires, and four peaceful and beautifully converted farm cottages combine to make The Durham Ox the perfect country get away, though were close enough to York should you fancy popping in to see the sights.
