Smugglers Rock Country House was built in approximately 1840 and has been renovated to a very high standard with eight en-suite bedrooms and off-road parking. We have a 4 star rating from the English Tourist Board. Our spacious guest lounge and breakfast room both have panoramic views. We offer a comprehensive breakfast menu including our 'Delicious Yorkshire' breakfast using local produce and our own free-range eggs. We pump and filter our own fresh additive-free water from a borehole on our land - we find it makes a lovely cup of tea! The winter of 2006/07 saw the installation of solar panels to heat 90% of our hot water during the season. All of our bedrooms (3 of which have 4-poster beds) have colour televisions and tea/coffee making facilities.
We are situated in the North York Moors National Park at the southern end of Robin Hood's Bay with Scarborough, Whitby and Goathland (setting for the TV series 'Heartbeat') all close by.
The Cleveland Way, Lyke Wake walk and the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line (which is now a popular walk and cycle track) all run through Ravenscar. The newly opened 'Moors to Coast' cycle trail also passes the house
