Dowfold House is a lovely Victorian house in a quiet rural location, with wonderful views over Wear Valley and beyond to Weardale. Built in 1860 for Joseph Pease, local mine owner and first Quaker MP, the house has some historical interest. It is an ideal place to stay when visiting the North East of England. Durham City is just a 12 to 15 minute drive away and the house is just a few minutes away from A68, a major route to and from Scotland.
All rooms are centrally heated and double glazed. Bedrooms are comfortable, well furnished and tastefully decorated. You will find tea and coffee making facilities, with a choice of teas, coffee and other hot drinks. We also provide a bottle of sparkling mineral water. Televisions and hair dryers are in all bedrooms. Every bedroom looks over open countryside.
