For a white water rafting experience, the beautiful market town of Llangollen is the place at the National centre.
The historic towns of Rhuthun and Denbigh with great little food and local produce markets are minutes away.
Rhuddlan, Penrhyn, Conwy and Caernarfon are a short drive away to enjoy some fine examples of Welsh castles.
Set in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, the peaceful hamlet of Marian Cwm is ideal for country lovers with a network of public footpaths, pretty lanes as well as the famous Offas Dyke path.
The village of Dyserth has all the convenient shopping you might need, including pubs serving meals. A popular attraction is its stunning waterfall which is part of the AONB(Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and linked to a network of footpaths offering stunnings sea views.
The small seaside resort of Prestatyn has a good selection of shops, bars and bistros as well as lovely promenade walks. Good sports facilities, including a health & fitness suite at the Nova swimming complex as well as, tennis, squash and badminton courts at the sport centre.
There are golf courses, driving ranges, fishing lakes and pools within easy reach, and picturesque country villages in the surrounding area with traditional pubs and pretty walks.
Greenfield Valley Heritage Park close to the market town of Holywell - a seventy acre country park with woodlands, reservoirs, ancient monuments and industrial history with a visitor centre, museum and farm, woodland walks, educational activities, fishing and bird watching.
Moel Famau Country Park - 2000 acres of impressive, colourful heather moorland, a haven for wildlife it forms part of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is well known for the prominent Jubilee Tower remains at the summit (1818ft) built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III.
Bodelwyddan castle set in 260 acres of magnificent parkland; an historic house and museum boasts large areas of formal garden and natural woodland. A particular feature is the area of practice trenches dating from the First World War. It is also a regional partner of the National Portrait Gallery, housing many wonderful portraits from the 19th Century. There is a beautiful aviary , a Maize and a great children´s play area.
Bodnant Gardens spans some 80 acres and is situated above the River Conwy looking across the valley towards the Snowdonia range. Bodnant Hall is the 1792 residence of Lord Aberconway and is not open to the public. Beautiful Italianate terraced gardens, formal ponds and informal lawns shaded by specimen trees as well as a wooded valley, stream and wild gardens. The famous laburnum arch is a 55 metre long tunnel flowering from from late May to early June. A visit to the cedar-shingled Pavilion Tea Room and garden centre is a must!
