Silverjet scores a double
3 September 2009
Silverjet, the British airline offering a private jet style experience at a fraction of the price, is soaring high after recently scooping two prestigious awards - Best Airline 2007, in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Experts Awards 2007 and the Best Executive Transport category, in Esquire’s 2007 Man At The Top Awards.
These latest accolades follow on the tail of an award-winning inaugural year for the airline, including Best Business Class Airline and the first Design and Innovation Award for Aviation from Condé Nast Traveller.
Voted by travel journalists and experts across the industry, Silverjet saw off competition from Virgin Atlantic, Jet and First Choice to take the honours of Best Airline 2007 in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Experts Awards. Judges were impressed with Silverjet’s ethos of service above price, with 30 minute check-in times, 6 ft 3 in flat beds, dedicated security and private terminals as standard, and fares priced from just £1099 return.
Winning the Best Executive Transport category at the Esquire 2007 Man at The Top Awards, Silverjet triumphed over Audi A8, Zip Car, Eurostar and Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy. Once again, judges heaped praise on the unique proposition and high service standards, commenting:
"A one-price-for-all airline is nothing new - except we're not talking cattle class. Silverjet is a strictly business class carrier, and that means big savings on long-haul flights (currently to New York and Dubai, though it plans to expand its fleet of 767s and service other business destinations in the future). The fares are substantially lower than competitors - from £999 return - which buys you a 30-minute check-in at a private terminal, flatbed seats and a chauffer or valet parking.”
Silverjet’s CEO Lawrence Hunt commented: “We’re delighted to have won these two awards – both a fantastic endorsement of our product offering. With Silverjet's innovations ranging from 30 minute check-in and chauffeur services, to our award winning beds and Le Caprice created menus, we’re returning every aspect of air travel to the glory days of airlines.
“Our twice daily flights to New York are a proven success and the next milestone for Silverjet is the launch of our daily service to Dubai on 18 November, where we’ll become the only commercial airline in the world to offer a private terminal at both ends of the route.”
