Driftwood scoops Cornish Hotel of the Year award
9 October 2009
Driftwood Hotel, Cornwall has been recognised by the Good Hotel Guide as the “Cornish Hotel of the Year” and awarded a prestigious César – an award presented to just ten hotels in the UK that stand out for their excellence each year.
The Good Hotel Guide has a reputation for independence, being one of the few guides that accept no advertising or hospitability from hotels. Consequently, the award is highly respected by travel writers, hoteliers and tourists alike. The Guide champions independent hotels of all types and sizes and whilst each of the César 2010 winners has a distinct character, what they have in common is an attitude to service that puts the customer first.
Commenting on Driftwood’s award, Desmond Balmer, joint editor of the Guide said:
“Paul and Fiona Robinson keep a close eye on every aspect of their contemporary hotel in an idyllic spot on the Roseland peninsula. The style is elegant and understated, the staff are anxious to please. Chris Eden’s modern European dishes are delicious.”
Paul Robinson, owner of Driftwood Hotel, added: “We are absolutely delighted to receive such a prestigious award from a truly independent guide. Our thanks go to all the followers of the Guide who made the award possible. To celebrate, we are offering a complimentary dinner for guests staying with us for three nights, excluding half term.”
Driftwood Hotel will appear in the 2010 edition of the Guide which is published on 5 October 2009 and on the website under the coveted Hotel César Winner section.
Driftwood Hotel is set on the south coast of Cornwall, just outside the village of Portscatho and near the fashionable St Mawes. It is a 15-room boutique bolthole surveying a magical stretch of coastline and Gerrans Bay.
Privately owned and run by Paul and Fiona Robinson, Driftwood is a stylish home from home offering an idyllic hideaway for all seasons. Whether seeking a cosy retreat in the winter months or a beach house style escape for a truly British summer break, Driftwood is the perfect reside.
