The Royal Hotel; an elegant Grade II listed building with its unique gold dome; has been a place of welcome to travellers since the early part of the nineteenth century. Situated in the heart of the thriving town of Hexham; the hotel dominates the street of Priestpopple. Built in 1820; the original coaching house was known as the 'New' or 'Low Grey Bull'; eventually to become 'The Royal Hotel' in around 1870.
