The cottage is situated within the Arched House, built in 1791 by Thomas Carlyle´s father and uncle, and the site of his birth four years later. The house is furnished to reflect the domestic style of Carlyle´s time and on show is a notable collection of portraits and the writer´s belongings.

Facilities: Sleeps 4. Sitting room and kitchen on the ground floor. One twin and one double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower on the first floor.

Washing machine, facilities for outdoor drying, shaver point, colour TV, microwave, freezer, dogs allowed, property available for winter breaks, property available for festive breaks, eating out facilities within 2 miles.
